GMC MultiPro Tailgate: Features and Benefits
The MultiPro Tailgate has a smart design with an inner tailgate that is hinged within the primary outer tailgate. Using these two tailgates in different configurations makes a range of different functions possible, namely:
Conventional Tailgate
If you want to keep things simple, the tailgate can simply be operated in the conventional way. It can be released by either pressing a button on the tailgate, on the instrument panel, or remotely via the key fob.
Easy Access
Lowering both tailgates at once makes it easier to reach into the bed, perfect for loading and unloading. This option allows you to stand up to 9 inches closer to the bed than with a conventional tailgate, giving better access and a deeper reach.
Full-Width Step
Releasing and lowering both gates provides access to an inner panel. Detaching this panel and folding it down creates a wide 48-inch step which is capable of supporting up to 375 pounds. To make climbing up into the truck bed even easier, there’s a sturdy hand grab that folds out from the cargo box wall and locks into position.
Primary Gate Load Stop
The primary gate load stop is invaluable for preventing longer items from sliding out of place. Detaching the panel from the inner gate and folding it upwards creates a vertical block that stops longer loads from falling out.
Inner Gate Load Stop
The versatility of the truck bed allows loads to be split into two, making it possible to insert a platform to create a two-tier loading system. Unlike the primary gate load stop both gates are down, but the panel is again folded up vertically to create a load stop that sits further inside the cargo bed.
Inner Gate Work Surface
With the primary tailgate already open, it’s possible to also open the inner tailgate to create a surface that acts just like a mobile workbench. An electrical output in the bed is available on some trims for even greater convenience.
Available Accessories
Further accessories are available to enhance the functions of the MultiPro Tailgate even further. This includes LED lights to illuminate the bed and step surface, as well as an audio system with a low power draw that operates independently of the truck.
