The GMC Sierra 1500 LTD is rolling out of the factory as a 2022 model, but the LTD may look familiar to some truck lovers. It’s a continuation of the 2021 Sierra 1500 that will fill a production gap until the new Sierra model can be manufactured. This light-duty pickup truck is sold in six different trim levels and carries over many of the features of the 2021 Sierra, with a few updates.

Basics About the GMC Sierra 1500 LTD

This truck is a full-sized pickup truck that is available in four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. Six trim levels are available: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, and Denali. Depending upon the trim level, this truck can be equipped with a Turbo 2.7L I4 (Gas), 5.3L L84 V8, 6.2L L87 V8, or 3.0 LM2 Duramax I6 Diesel engine.

Like many pickup trucks, the 1500 LTD is available in regular cab, double cab, or crew cab configurations with 8-foot, 6.5-foot, or 5.6-foot beds. A carbon-fiber bed, which is lighter and tougher than steel, is available at the AT4 and Denali trim levels. Called “Carbon Pro Edition,” this is a feature you won’t find on any other truck model.

New Features for 2022

While the Sierra 1500 LTD is mostly a carryover of the 2021 Sierra, there are some changes to note. The base trim is called Pro for the 2022 release, while it was called 1SA in the 20221 lineup. Rear heated seats are now available in the SLT, AT4, and Denali trim levels. The 5.3L V8 engine is no longer available and FlexFuel capability is therefore not available either.

Technology and Infotainment

All six trim levels of the Sierra 1500 LTD offer a driver display screen and infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility. The Pro trim base model comes equipped with a 3.5-inch driver display screen and a 7-inch infotainment screen, and those sizes are upgraded to 4.2 inches and 8 inches, respectively, with the SLE trim.

Beginning with the SLT trim level you’ll find advanced trailering technology, including the Pro-Grade trailering system with an in-vehicle trailering app, integrated trailer brake controller, and hitch guidance.

Driver Safety Features

Various driver safety features can be selected for each trim level of this truck. The base model keeps drivers and pedestrians safe with automatic braking, forward collision warning, and pedestrian detection. Driver Alert packages for upper trim levels offer blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.

The 2022 Sierra 1500 LTD offers many of the features that made the 2021 Sierra 1500 popular and is a solid option for any truck lover. See for yourself! Come out to Opequon Motors and test drive one today.
