From performing arts theaters and movie theaters to museums and markets, there are plenty of fun places for the whole family to enjoy in the Martinsburg, WV area. Today, we’re looking at some of the best family activities in the area that are worth the drive.

3 Family Activities Worth the Drive in Martinsburg, WV

1. Visiting JayDee’s Family Fun Center

We cannot recommend visiting JayDee’s Family Fun Center at 2332 Henshaw Road enough. There is something for every member of your family here. You can coach your kids from just outside the batting cages, play a round of mini golf, or take your child for a Go-Kart ride. If you have kids who are at least 4’10”, they can ride alone.

On particularly warm summer days, you don’t want to miss out on the waterpark at this family fun center. It features a thrilling Red Viper Speed Slide, but there is also a safe water wonderland for young children to enjoy. If your kids don’t want to play in the water, they can also cool down in the arcade while racing virtual cars.

2. Catching a Show at Wonderment Theater

We also recommend taking your kids to catch an interactive puppet show at Wonderment Theater at 412 W. King Street. The theater is open to the public on weekends, but you can book a weekday show for up to six guests for $60. If you want to have a birthday party for your child with their friends, you will need to pay $7.50 for each additional guest.

3. Camping at Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area

Do you feel like your family needs a break from Martinsburg? If you want to take a mini-vacation, we recommend camping at Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area. There are 75 primitive camping sites here, and camping is allowed year-round. Besides camping, there are lots of other things to do here, too.

For instance, you can teach your kids an important lesson on patience while fishing in the 205-acre Sleepy Creek Lake. There are three access sites to the lake, and there are many fish species you can catch, including northern pike, crappie, and largemouth bass. Throw your tackle box and other fishing necessities in the bed of your 2024 GMC Sierra; you will probably catch something delicious for dinner.

With a reliable double cab or crew cab truck, there is no shortage of things you can do with your whole family in the Martinsburg area. Just remember that you should bring your truck in every 5,000 miles for routine service to keep it running strong for hundreds of thousands of miles.
